The R. Hanauer Process
At R. Hanauer, our bow ties and menswear accessories are handmade in our workshop in Fort Mill, South Carolina. The men behind the name, Randy and Randall Hanauer, are our father and son team. Both Hanauer men are devoted to making quality bow ties and menswear accessories that speak to the style of a timeless gentleman. From hand selecting materials and fabrics for their various collections to being present at the shop located in Fort Mill, both gentlemen find a way to be involved in the creation process.
Our wonderful team of seamstresses are skilled in creating our signature bow ties, as well as other accessories such as our neckties, pocket squares, and cummerbund sets. Our team is dedicated to making products that are carefully crafted by hand, as well as customized pieces that are made to order for a more personalized look.
The R. Hanauer creation process begins when our bow ties are taken to the cutting table. There they are cut by hand to begin the craft. At R. Hanauer, we strive to make the very best products that remain intact for many years of good use. In order to do so, we choose to cut our ties on a bias, which results in a product that is effortless to tie and still looks quite sharp. We take pride in our creation process, and each intricate step that is taken helps us guarantee that the structure and shape of your tie will remain in prime condition. Once the creation process is completed, your R. Hanauer product is placed in one of our signature boxes and shipped directly to you for your enjoyment. We are proud to create handmade bow ties and gentlemen’s accessories in our hometown of Fort Mill, South Carolina. Shop our Mardi Gras Collection for a sensational look that is perfect for such a high-spirited event.
The History of Mardi Gras
Whether you call it Mardi Gras, Fat Tuesday, or Shrove Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday, or in some cases the days leading up to Ash Wednesday, are known as the celebratory period before the season of Lent officially begins.
While the traditions and the days of celebration vary from place to place, in the United States, the definitive Mardi Gras celebration is located in New Orleans. The first recorded Mardi Gras parade in New Orleans is thought to have occurred as early as the 1830s. Many participate in Mardi Gras as the last chance to celebrate before the fasting and reflective time of Lent. Parties, festivals, parades, and feasting are all key components of Mardi Gras. Many attend masquerade balls, elaborate dinners, and carnival events to get in the true spirit of Mardi Gras. Beginning as a French Catholic tradition in Louisiana, the festive occasion has grown beyond its religious beginnings, and has evolved into a fun celebration for everyone who wishes to participate.
The Statement of a Mardi Gras Bow Tie
Whether you’re attending the exciting festivities in New Orleans, or feasting with your family and friends, dressing for Mardi Gras is all about making a statement. The regal colors of green, gold, and purple are a bold choice, while remaining true to Mardi Gras tradition. There’s no shame in a gentleman trading in his Mardi Gras beads for one of our dynamic selections of bow ties and neckties. For those of discerning taste, our Mardi Gras Collection offers a variation of tasteful designs that are specifically made for such a well-known celebration.
A gentleman attending a Mardi Gras Ball would look superb in one of our all silk cummerbund sets, as the rich colors of green, gold, and purple accompanied by a crisp dress shirt and a fitted tuxedo creates a look that is traditional yet eye-catching. Our Mardi Gras Bow Ties and Neckties allow a gentleman to stand out in a crowd while making memories that will last a lifetime. In true Mardi Gras spirit, let the good times roll.
