This is a recreation of the iconic Springmaid girls advertising campaign created by Colonel Elliott White Springs of Fort Mill, SC. By 1946, he had grown dissatisfied with the conventional approach of his N.Y. ad agency. Springs knew he needed positive brand identity for his inherently uninteresting products--cotton sheets mostly--so he fired his ad agency and developed a stimulating ad technique that would combine humor with sexually and socially charged imagery. Never before seen in mainstream advertising, Miss Springmaid ads depicted risque' metaphors, giving Springs the title of the "maverick ad leader."
